This Month's Spotlight Community is Lake Wildwood Association

Community in the Spotlight - Lake Wildwood Association

The February Community in the Spotlight is Lake Wildwood! The community is located in Penn Valley, California situated near Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. The community was incorporated as a homeowners association in 1968 and is now home to nearly 6,000 residents.

Lake Wildwood is conveniently located two and a half hours from San Francisco. The area is referred to Gold Country, an area with roots in the beginning of the California gold rush in 1849. Other area attractions include Yosemite National Park and Mount Shasta. Wine lovers appreciate the convenience of famed Napa Valley, just two short hours away.

Inside the community, residents take advantage of their 300 acre private lake, reserved for their use exclusively. With tons of clubs and amenities, Lake Wildwood residents stay very busy. Golf is the most popular activity in the community, and the website serves as the ultimate communication tool for residents. The community also has a restaurant and bar on the property and an 11,097 square foot community center that houses a multi-purpose room, kitchen, snack bar, showers, and first aid stations.

According to Mary Helen Fein, a consultant to the Lake Wildwood Association's Web Advisory Group, residents stay in the loop with their AtHomeNet website! The site serves as a hub of information for golf as well as concerts, special meals at the restaurant, exercise classes and club meetings. Since golf is the most popular activity in the community, the website offers plenty of information about course conditions and is even linked to an online tee time system. Residents are also interested in the Boards/Committees area of the website to stay active and informed!

As a website administrator, Mary Helen appreciates the fact that the Lake Wildwood website is easy to use and the responsive support that AtHomeNet provides. "The system is so easy that anyone who knows Word can use it," she remarked. "I really feel I can do anything with this system." Mary Helen works with a full time employee for the community to maintain the website and has even trained members of their many clubs to "maintain their own home page and enter their events and meetings into the calendar on the site." Also important to Mary Helen is the ability to embed pages from other websites into the Lake Wildwood site. The CC&Rs and Board Minutes have been on the site since the original launch, and they are working on adding a business directory.

We congratulate the Lake Wildwood Association on being named the Community in the Spotlight and we look forward to many more years of supporting this active community!
