Fishkill, NY - - Fishkill, New York's own Van Wyck HOA and community were honored this past week with national HOA & Association Management Website company AtHomeNet's annual "Community of the year 2009" award. Van Wyck's management company, McGrath Management and Toll Brothers, the communities' builder, were also acknowledged in the award. The Community of the Year award is issued annually to the community that best exhibits an outstanding implementation of AtHomeNet's website technology within a community or Homeowners Association. Van Wyck has been recognized before by the company in their monthly 'Community in the Spotlight" series, but this is the first such award of its kind that Van Wyck has earned.

Van Wyck has been using AtHomeNet's online solutions for almost 2 years now, spearheaded by Web Admin and HOA Board member Joseph Caplan's efforts to reinvent the way his community handled business and communicated internally and externally. Caplan first researched AtHomeNet's website services nearly two years ago, and through vision and dedication, implemented a strategy to make Van Wyck's website the center of information and business for a neighborhood of more than 400 homes.

Caplan spoke enthusiastically about the humble beginnings of the website, and the challenge and reward of seeing his hard work towards getting residents and potential home buyers to engage payoff. "It was in the spring of 2008 that I first convinced our management company McGrath Management of the need for a website in Van Wyck. After I researched possible providers and found that AtHomeNet was the premiere association hosting company, I promptly contacted them and poured over the extensive list of website features available. Their support team brought the site online efficiently and we announced the release of the website in our community Gazette with high hopes. At first, residents were slow to get on board, but within a year, the majority of our more than 400 home community was logging in daily. Our current sponsor, Toll Brothers, advertised on our website which contributed both to our statistical peak of 9,000 page views last spring and their sale of over 103 homes in the community."

"We are extremely proud of Joe and all the folks at Van Wyck. The services we provide to our family of clients are very personal in nature. Community Websites can be the lifeline of a community and affect everything from financial vitality and safety to overall happiness and communications. The majority of our features are designed based on the feedback and interaction of residents and Board Members like Joe, and Van Wyck is a great example of how much of a difference a well used website can make," commented Susan Sanders, Chief Executive Office of AtHomeNet.

Along with recognition in the company's publications, Van Wyck will receive a plaque, online press coverage, and a certificate commemorating the Community of the Year 2009 award.
